How the data was collected

The data for this report have been collected via a questionnaire sent out to all authorised active shellfish businesses (Supplementary Questionnaire Documentation).

Value and inflation adjustment (calendar year)

Production values are presented in real terms. They have been adjusted to 2025 prices using 2025 calendar year GDP deflators at market prices. This accounts for inflation and makes it simpler to compare values across a time series.

Quality Assurance

Reported data are subject to a series of validation checks. Where necessary, responses are referred back to the respondent for clarification. The published figures represent aggregated reported data. The survey return rate for the 2025 reporting year was 100%.
