Lists of species and habitats of principal importance to Scottish ministers, as required by the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004.
The Scottish biodiversity list is a list of species and habitats important to furthering the conservation of biodiversity, as required by the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Act 2004. The first list was published in 2005 with revisions in 2007 and 2012.
The SBL covers habitats and species across our land, freshwater and seas.
It supports delivery of the statutory Biodiversity Duty on public bodies and helps identify priorities and inform actions relevant to restoring and regenerating biodiversity.
The list will contribute to delivering the biodiversity strategy’s outcomes and Scotland’s contribution to the UN CBD’s Global Biodiversity Framework.
