Scottish Air Quality Advisory Group advice note 2, March 2026

Expert advice from the Air Quality Advisory Group on the potential air quality impacts of policies within Scotland’s Climate Change Plan 2026 to 2040.


Background

This advice note summarises the Scottish Air Quality Advisory Group’s comments and views on the key measures within the Scottish Government’s Climate Change Plan (CCP) that offer potential co-benefits for air quality in Scotland. The note will be used to support the development of the Scottish Government’s long term policy framework for air quality.

The draft CCP was discussed at the Group’s second meeting held on 6 February 2026, with the discussion focused around five questions which form the structure of this advice note. The final plan was published on 24 March 2026. The note also draws on additional written comments submitted by Group members and represents the collective views of the Group.
