Scotland’s Heat Network Fund: optimisation study grant funding - how to apply
This grant helps assess ways to improve existing Scottish heat networks, cutting costs and carbon emissions while benefiting customers.
How to apply
The Efficiency Funding stream has its own application form, separate from the main SHNF form. This form includes specific guidance on how to complete each section.
To apply you should:
- Request an application form from the Heat Networks Delivery team at heatnetworkfund@gov.scot.
- Complete the form with supporting evidence to show how your project meets the mandatory criteria of the funding stream.
- Read and understand the privacy policy within the application form.
- Ask a senior member of your organisation, such as a Chief Executive or Director, to support your application by signing the form and providing their name and position.
- Use the checklist to make sure you've included all the required documentation.
- Email your completed application form to heatnetworkfund@gov.scot by 5pm on 7 October 2026.
What to include
Your application should include:
- a completed application form
- supporting evidence showing how your project meets the mandatory criteria
- the signature of a senior member of your organisation, along with their name and position
- all documentation listed in the checklist
We cannot progress your application if it is missing any mandatory information.
You must submit your application by 5pm on 7 October 2026. This gives enough time to deliver your project by March 2027.
