Delivery Area Reporting
The MD transformation programme, which commenced in 2021, set out to improve our ways of working in collaboration across delivery areas, recognising that our people are critical to the success of our delivery. To achieve our delivery, SEDD staff are drawn from a range of Scottish Government professions. At the end of 2024-25, there were a total of 284 staff (256.42 Full Time Equivalent - FTE) in individual delivery areas; but total numbers of staff will fluctuate over future years.
Within SEDD the majority of people have Science & Engineering as their primary profession (n=216). Delivery is supported by colleagues in professions like Digital, Data and Technology (n=30), Business Enablers (n=12), Economists (n=6), Operational Delivery (n=10), Social Researchers = (n=4); Statisticians (n=3), Analysts/Policy (n=3). The treemap below helps to illustrate the spread of experts in each profession across SEDD.
SEDD provide high quality outputs to support Ministerial commitments, aims and ambitions associated with the development of policy and statutory and regulatory obligations to support Scotland’s marine and freshwater interests. SEDD staff split their time between statutory and regulatory monitoring, surveillance and reporting; administrative responsibilities; training and career development; laboratory, field and desk research and cross-collaboration between delivery areas in order to deliver these outputs.
