Contains data on a range of issues concerning rural Scotland and access to supporting data tables and charts.
The rural Scotland data dashboard 2025 compiles existing published data on a range of issues that concern rural Scotland.
The data is organised according to nine thematic areas. Where possible a geographic breakdown of the data is included. This allows comparisons to be drawn between different types of rural areas within Scotland, as well as Scotland as a whole.
We committed to publishing a rural delivery plan by 2026 showing how we are delivering for rural Scotland. The thematic areas and variables in the dashboard align with the plan and will contribute to ongoing monitoring of its progress.
We initially produced a rural Scotland data dashboard in 2023 to inform the development of the delivery plan. We have redeveloped and updated the dashboard before publication of the plan.
The new version includes additional functionality such as the option to download data and reflects updated sources, including:
- Scotland’s Census
- Scottish Household Survey
- Scottish House Condition Survey
- Health and Care Experience survey
- Family Resources Survey
The tables used in the data dashboard are available as an excel spreadsheet from this page. The spreadsheet includes links to the original data source and charts to facilitate the interpretation of the data.
