Naming the New Organisation

It is critical that the new organisation develops its own unique identity which effectively positions the organisation to deliver on behalf of our wider health and social care system. Identifying a name for the organisation which effectively communicates its purpose and represents its values is the first step in this process.

As outlined earlier in this document, plans for the new organisation have up until now been developed under the working title ‘NHS Delivery’ whilst wider engagement is taken forward to identify a name which fully reflects its new role.

The name will ultimately be crucial in helping partners and the public to recognise the new organisation, supporting an effective approach to engagement which will help to build trust and confidence. This will be particularly important as we work with partners to agree the full breadth of functions that the organisation will ultimately take on.

The name will also help to differentiate the organisation from other national partners who support our health and social care system and, where supported by effective branding and the NHS Scotland values, can support motivation and a sense of belonging amongst the organisation’s colleagues, without whom the new organisation could not function.

Over the coming months we will take forward further dialogue with partners to agree a name and associated branding for the organisation which fully reflects our ambitions for it as well as continuing to promote the values of NHS Scotland.
