Proposed North Sea and West of Scotland Saithe Fisheries Management Plan
The North Sea and West of Scotland saithe FMP is one of 43 UK FMPs set out in the Joint Fisheries Statement (JFS). It sets out the policies and actions to manage the relevant stock at sustainable levels continuing to provide positive socio-economic benefits to the UK.
Why an FMP for saithe?
Saithe are a whitefish species caught as part of a mixed whitefish and targeted fishery within UK waters and also out with UK waters. Saithe are a commercially important species within UK waters, although predominantly caught by the Norwegian and EU fishing fleets, and of less value than some other whitefish commercial species.
