Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund 2025-2026: equalities impact assessment
Equalities impact assessment (EQIA) for the Oil and Gas Transition Training Fund 2025-2026.
The Scope of the EQIA
An EQIA framing exercise took place which reviewed evidence gathered via desk-based research and a framing workshop with internal stakeholders. Feedback was also collected from key external stakeholders. Reflecting SG’s responsibility and the available evidence, it was decided that this EQIA will primarily focus on impacts for those directly accessing the fund. It was also determined that this EQIA should consider the Oil and Gas TTF’s potential impact on the existing diversity landscape within the oil and gas workforce in Aberdeen City/Shire, though the scale of the fund likely limits any potential impacts in this space.
SDS are responsible for their own equalities assessments and processes considering their own responsibilities in delivering the Oil and Gas TTF.
Based on the available evidence, the following characteristics have been scoped in for consideration on direct impacts:
- Age
- Disability
- Sex
- Pregnancy and Maternity
- Race
Based on the available evidence, the following characteristics have been scoped out for consideration on direct impacts:
- Gender reassignment
- Sexual orientation
- Religion or belief
- Marriage and civil partnership
It was determined that these characteristics would likely have a marginal impact on those accessing the fund.
It was also determined that any indirect impacts on individuals outside the oil and gas sector with protected characteristics who are not engaging with the fund are likely to be marginal, given the scale of the fund. As such, all indirect impacts are considered out of scope.
It is noted that the scope of the Oil and Gas TTF will have a regional impact due to the conditions set by UKG on its availability. These considerations are not, however, within the scope of the EQIA process.
