Appendix 1

Declaration of Confidentiality

All visitors, this includes maintenance staff carrying out repairs, or routine works

within the CCTV control centre will be required to sign a Declaration of

Confidentiality. The following is an example:

Access to the CCTV control centre may mean that you are exposed to personal data that is being processed or being held within the centre. You are therefore required to sign the visitors log as a condition of entry to confirm that you understand the obligations placed upon you in relation to that confidential information:

"I understand that in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, any personal data that comes to my attention while in a [name] CCTV control centre is protected from disclosure by the principles of the Act, that all persons captured on CCTV have a right to privacy by virtue of Article 8 of Schedule 1 to the Human Rights Act 1998 and I undertake to respect that persons right to privacy. I therefore agree not to disclose any personal details that may come to my attention to anyone outside of the CCTV control centre."
