National Care Service - governance and representation: co-design report

This report sets out findings we have gathered through research and co-design that relate to governance and representation.

Introduction

Since we started work on the NCS, we have listened to 1,000s of people across Scotland who access or work in social care, social work and community health services. You have told us that things need to change. We are grateful to you all for sharing your views.

You have told us that the government should be held accountable for the social care system in Scotland. Many of you have called on ministers to lead that change. You can read about the work we have done to develop the NCS on the Scottish Government’s website.

Ministers are still engaging with people with lived experience and stakeholders. As part of this engagement, ministers are:

  • committed to creating a NCS in partnership with people with lived experience of delivering or using social care, social work and community health services
  • determined to understand the views of people with lived experience so that we can deliver improvements
  • continuing to talk with stakeholders
