GDP Monthly Estimate: January 2026
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) statistics measure changes in the output of the economy. This is an Official Statistics in Development publication for Scotland.

In the three months to January 2026, compared to the three months to October 2025:
- Scotland’s real onshore Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is estimated to have shown no growth This follows unrevised growth of 0.1% in the three months to December 2025 and 0.4% in the three months to November 2025.
- Production sector output is estimated to have grown by 0.1%, while the services sector is estimated to have grown by 0.2%. Construction sector output contracted by 2.0%.
- Professional, Scientific and Technical Services made the largest positive contribution to overall GDP growth, contributing around 0.1 percentage points. Construction made the largest negative contribution contributing around -0.1 percentage points.
Monthly GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.5% in January 2026, after showing no growth (0.0%) in December (revised down from 0.1%). This follows revised contraction of 0.3% in November (revised down from -0.2%).
