Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) Continuation and future pricing: Business and Regulatory Impact Assessment
Scottish Government developed a Business and Regulatory Impact Assessment to analyse the costs and benefits of the continuation and uprating of Minimum Unit Price (MUP) on businesses.
Errata
An errata was published on 22 December 2025 to correct sections of the Business and Regulatory Impact Assessment (BRIA): Continuation and Future Pricing of Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) after an error was found in the modelling supplied to the Scottish Government by the Sheffield Alcohol Research Group (SARG).
The error concerned the treatment of time lags between changes in alcohol consumption and the resulting health effects. These time lags were unintentionally omitted from the model outputs originally provided to the Scottish Government. SARG has now corrected this error and revised data tables are reflected in this publication.
