Code of practice compliance information for Marine Directorate statistics.
The Scottish Government Marine Directorate produces the following suite of Official Statistics relating to fisheries, aquaculture and the marine economy. These statistics are produced in line with the Principles and Protocols set out in the Code of Practice and support policy formulation, regulation and public understanding.

The Scottish Sea Fisheries Statistics provisional and final publications are Accredited Official Statistics. The Marine Economic Statistics publication is Official Statistics in Development. The other publications are Official Statistics.
Our statistical practice is regulated by the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR). OSR sets the standards of trustworthiness, quality and value in the Code of Practice for Statistics that all producers of official statistics should adhere to. As per the Code of Practice for Statistics: Edition 3.0, producers are required to publish a set of documents demonstrating how statistics meet standards of trustworthiness, quality and value. These include:
- Annual statistical work programme
- Quality management approach
- Public involvement and engagement strategy
We will review this document at least every two years, or sooner if there are significant changes to the Code of Practice, our statistical outputs or user needs.
