Infrastructure investment plan 2021-22 to 2025-26: lessons learned

We will publish a draft infrastructure strategy for consultation in January 2026. We've published this lessons learned evaluation of the current strategy to guide future decision making.

4. Feedback from PIPAG

The Planning, Infrastructure and Place Advisory Group (PIPAG) met on 18 August and discussed the draft findings from this process evaluation. The group highlighted several issues:

  • Concern around the current IIP being viewed as meaningless and the importance of addressing this issue for the next Infrastructure Strategy.
  • If separating the strategy and pipeline for next Infrastructure Strategy, how do we focus on delivery as it helps attract private investment. Businesses/investors make investment-based decisions on these documents.
  • It was agreed that finding the right balance of detail in the new 10-year Infrastructure Strategy would also be important.
