Grangemouth Industrial Just Transition Plan: Equality Impact Assessment
Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) for the Grangemouth Just Transition Plan
Recommendations and Conclusion
The EQIA process did not identify any potential indirect or direct discrimination as a result of actions outlined within the JTP. The following considerations were noted from the analysis:
- Engagement with key stakeholders from a variety of demographic groups has been consistently undertaken throughout the development of the JTP, including with local businesses, strategic partners, community groups and individuals.
- Gathering insight from a broad range of community groups helped to inform the potential impacts that the JTP may have on equalities. Where risks around potential negative impact was captured, e.g. certain groups feeling overlooked, the JTP was further developed to provide mitigating actions.
- As JTP policy embeds fairness and equality at its core, the vision, outcomes and actions have been designed to ensure equalities impacts have been considered in their development and implementation. have been very mindful of equalities. As the JTP continues to evolve, ongoing monitoring and evaluation will take place to continually review potential impact on equalities.
The EQIA has shown that, despite limited evidence for some protected characteristics, evidence for the wider context shows that the impact of delivering the JTP will be positive and will advance equality of opportunity across most protected characteristics. However, in line with best practice we will keep this under review as part of the monitoring of this EQIA.
Some of the JTP actions are either at early stages or still being developed. As these develop this JTP will require periodic updates throughout the duration of the strategy to ensure that barriers for each protected characteristic are fully considered. This will be considered in tandem with the monitoring and evaluation framework outlined in the JTP.
