Student Awards Agency Scotland queries regarding postgraduate funding: FOI release

Information requested

1. In the past five academic years, how many students have been awarded postgraduate funding for part-time Master’s courses delivered outside Scotland?

2. Of those, how many were funded on the basis that the course was not available from a Scottish institution, as stated in SAAS published guidance?

3. Please provide a breakdown (where available) of the institutions attended, subject areas studied, and the year of award.

Response

1. In the past five academic years, how many students have been awarded postgraduate funding for parttime Master’s courses delivered outside Scotland?

Whilst SAAS funding support is not available for part-time postgraduate courses undertaken outside of Scotland, there has been one occasion where funding has been awarded due to exceptional circumstances.

2. Of those, how many were funded on the basis that the course was not available from a Scottish institution, as stated in SAAS published guidance?

Although funding was awarded due to exceptional circumstances it was not on the basis that the course was not available from a Scottish Institution.

3. Please provide a breakdown (where available) of the institutions attended, subject areas studied, and the year of award.

Due to the number involved, this data is exempt under s.38 (1)(b) of FOISA as it would be deemed to be personal data and could lead to an individual being identified.
