COVID-19 cases by local authority area statistics: FOI release

Information requested

You asked for the breakdown of Covid cases by local authority area that has been used to inform decision making in terms of the introduction of tiers and the ongoing management of the tier system.

Response

Most of the information you have requested is available from the Public Health Scotland and Scottish Government websites. Under section 25(1) of FOISA, we do not have to give you information which is already reasonably accessible to you. If, however, you do not have internet access to obtain this information from the website(s) listed, then please contact me again and I will send you a paper copy.

The following are available at the Public Health Scotland (PHS) dashboard at: Tableau Public

• Number of cases per 100,000 by local authority
• The number of tests per local authority area
• The number of hospital admissions is available at Scotland level. You may wish to contact PHS to see if data could be provided at local authority level: PHS.Covid19Data&Analytics@phs.scot

The Scottish Government publishes information on the allocation of levels to local authorities, alongside evidence and analysis informing these decisions. The outcome of the 5th review is available at:

This paper includes the percentage of positive tests for each local authority.

We publish the weekly number of resident confirmed positive cases in all Scottish care homes at the link below, but we don't have a breakdown by local authority.

Testing for COVID-19 in adult care homes in Scotland split by care homes with confirmed COVID-19 and without confirmed COVID-19, is presented by NHS Health Board at the link below. Unfortunately it isn't available by local authority.
