COVID-19 Furlough scheme extension briefings: FOI release

Information requested

1.  Whether any briefings were provided for ministers or civil servants (prior to publication) about the production of the Scottish Government’s proposal to extend the furlough scheme as published here: https://www.gov.scot/publications/covid-19-analysis-extending-coronavirus-jobretention-scheme/ - Please provide copies of these briefing materials where they exist.

2. Copies of any emails between officials or between officials and ministers about the research conducted above.

3. Copies of any emails from the Scottish Government’s press office to other officials or ministers about the research conducted above.

Response

I enclose a copy of some of the information you requested in Annex II.

While our aim is to provide information whenever possible, in this instance we are unable to provide some of the information you have requested because exemptions under sections  s. 38(1)(b) (personal information) of FOISA applies to that information. The reasons why these exemptions apply are explained in Annex I to this letter.
