Childhood in a Good Food Nation

Children get and enjoy healthy food that is right for their age. They have chances to learn about food.

Parents and carers know where to get support if they cannot buy or cook hot food at home. Children are not hungry because they cannot access food.

Adult life in a Good Food Nation

People can easily get food they enjoy that keeps them healthy. They know where to go if they have money problems. They can get support that meets their needs.

Healthy and sustainable options are easy to find where people eat and buy food. People can get information about the impacts of their food. This helps them make decisions about their food.

Out of Home in a Good Food Nation

People who run food shops and restaurants provide affordable, sustainable and enjoyable food. They support lots of different food producers.

Food shops and restaurants waste as little food as possible. Leftovers are managed in a sustainable way. They make decisions about what to sell that are good for the environment.

Food shops and restaurants are good places to work, with a fair and happy work environment.

Food Production in a Good Food Nation

Farmers and crofters feel their work is respected. They get a fair price for their produce. They can sell produce locally if they want to.

Farmers and crofters make sure their business makes as positive an environmental impact as possible. They look after the health and welfare of their animals.

They can get support and advice to help them run successful farms or crofts. They help to make sure good food is easily available in Scotland.

Fishers feel their work is respected. They can get a fair price for their catch. They can bring their product to a wider market in Scotland.

Fishers fish responsibly and support our seas, coasts and wildlife.

Fishers work in a fair and safe environment. They can get support and advice to help run a sustainable fishing business.

Food Manufacturing and Processing in a Good Food Nation

Food processers and people who make food are part of the food and drink industry and help Scotland’s economy.

They work to supply food while wasting as little as possible.

They make their products healthier and more sustainable using fresh, seasonal ingredients. They can get support to do this.

They develop their staff so they can learn new skills in a safe environment.
