Wave 1 Impacts:
- Follow-on funding of £20m
- Significant Expansion in research team
- Attraction of 70 PhD students, generating £2.4m in additional fees
- Established Scotland as a leader in 5G research
- Net additional Gross Value Added (GVA) of £13.93
- Return on Investment (ROI) of 1:3.67
Hubs and Business Engagement Impacts
- Several regional 5G Hubs and a mobile network
- Engaged with a range of sectors including advanced manufacturing, food & drink, and agriculture
- Over 20 use cases for application of 5G tech in industry settings
- Supporting projects with over 30m of research and innovation funding from UK Government (DSIT, DCMS) Innovate UK and UKRI.
- Supported SMEs to adopt 5G tech and save money, improve productivity, increase revenues, reduce carbon emissions and mitigate risk
