Equality impact assessment (EQIA) for the Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Cluster, examining how the initiative supports innovation, resilience and inclusive access for aquaculture businesses while identifying no direct impacts on protected groups.


The Scope of the EQIA

The EQIA assessed the potential impacts of SAIC on the following groups:

Directly affected:

  • Aquaculture businesses (finfish and shellfish)
  • Micro and small enterprises, particularly in rural and island communities

Indirectly affected:

  • Rural and Island communities dependent on aquaculture employment
  • Broader sector supply chains could benefit from increased innovation and collaboration.
  • Education and research partners may benefit from enhanced collaboration opportunities and knowledge exchange with industry.
