Easy read consultation 5 on ways to protect women and girls – online harm

This is an easy read version of our consultation about crimes that can happen to women and girls. We want to know what people think about the law in Scotland relating to online harm. This includes crimes that happen through social media, gaming and phone apps.

Intimate images and nudify apps

A nudify app is a phone or computer tool which uses new technology to make intimate images.

Nudify apps allow people to make intimate images:

  • without the person in the image agreeing
  • without having a real photo of that person

They are often used to target women and girls.

We want better laws and rules about using nudify apps.

We want the new laws to make it:

  • illegal to make a nudify app
  • illegal to give or sell nudify apps

We want these new laws to include any other tools that can be used to make intimate images without consent.

2. Do you agree with our plan to make new laws about nudify apps?
