Children's care and justice – possible changes to the law: consultation - easy read

The Scottish Government would like your views on how we can protect and support children. This is especially those in conflict with the law.


Restraint

Children in secure care and residential care can be restrained by staff when this is the only option to keep them safe. Restraint may be safely holding the person. There are laws and guidelines about this.

The Independent Care Review heard a lot about restraint. It can be frightening, painful and embarrassing for children. We are working so it is used very rarely.
