Aims

The Scottish Government wants to:

  • think about culture when they make new rules and laws
  • see culture as a way of helping people
  • think about how culture can help people with their health and wellbeing, education and reduce inequality.

The Culture Plan will do this by

  • Hiring someone to work as a Culture Leader at the Scottish Government. Their job will be to help everyone think about culture.

  • Bringing together people, including people who work at universities and colleges to talk about how we can show that culture is a good thing and that the plan is helping to support culture for everyone.

The Culture Plan will make sure:

  • that all types of culture are included – even things that are new.
  • new opportunities are created for people to take part in culture.
  • that each community is recognised as having its own culture and sense of identity.
