Business Insights and Conditions in Scotland (wave 164): 1 October 2026

Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland data up to survey period 7 September to 20 September 2026 (Wave 164). The BICS provides statistics on how current conditions are affecting businesses in Scotland, including impact on financial performance, workforce, trade and resilience.

Turnover

Businesses that were currently trading were asked how their turnover in August 2026 compared with the previous calendar month.

Figure 4: Around a quarter of businesses (26.3%) reported that their turnover had increased in August 2026 compared with the previous month, broadly in line with July 2026 (23.6%) and August 2025 (24.1%).
