Business Insights and Conditions in Scotland (wave 159): 9 July 2026

Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland data up to survey period 15 June to 28 June 2026 (Wave 159). The BICS provides statistics on how current conditions are affecting businesses in Scotland, including impact on financial performance, workforce, trade and resilience.


Supply Chain Concern

In the period 15 June to 28 June 2026 (Wave 159), the BICS asked businesses about supply chain concerns over the next 12 months. An estimated 42.6% of businesses had some form of concern about their supply chains, down from 49.2% in May 2026.

Figure 1: In June 2026, the top supply chain concern for businesses was international conflict (30.7%). An estimated 37.8% of businesses had no supply chain concerns.

In the period 15 June to 28 June 2026 (Wave 159), businesses were asked how concerned they were about energy prices. An estimated 72.9% of businesses were very or somewhat concerned about energy prices, with this share rising to as high as 90.3% for businesses in the Transport & Storage sector. In the period 15 June to 28 June 2026 (Wave 159), businesses were also asked how concerned they were about increases in fuel prices. An estimated 68.4% of businesses were very or somewhat concerned about increases in fuel prices, with this share rising to as high as 91.1% for businesses in the Transport & Storage sector.
