Business Insights and Conditions in Scotland (wave 154): 30 April 2026
Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland data up to survey period 6 April to 19 April 2026 (Wave 154). The BICS provides statistics on how current conditions are affecting businesses in Scotland, including impact on financial performance, workforce, trade and resilience.
Global Supply Chain Disruption
In April 2026, businesses were asked if they had experienced any global supply chain disruption in the previous month.
Figure 5: Around 1 in 10 (9.6%) businesses experienced global supply chain disruption in March 2026, up from 3.0% in February 2026 and the highest proportion since May 2023 (9.7%).

Conflict in the Middle East was the main reason businesses experienced global supply chain disruption in March 2026. Nearly two thirds (an estimated 62.4%) of businesses that experienced disruption cited this as the main reason.
