Business Insights and Conditions in Scotland (wave 153): 2 April 2026

Business Insights and Conditions Survey (BICS) weighted Scotland data up to survey period 16 March to 29 March 2026 (Wave 153). The BICS provides statistics on how current conditions are affecting businesses in Scotland, including impact on financial performance, workforce, trade and resilience.


Climate Change

In the period 16 March to 29 March 2026 (Wave 153), businesses were asked whether they were very concerned, somewhat concerned, not concerned or not sure about the impact of climate change on their business.

Figure 2: In March 2026, 45.7% of businesses were very or somewhat concerned about the impact of climate change on their business, up from the share reported in December 2025 (42.1%) but down on previous years.

Large businesses (250 or more employees) were more likely to be concerned about the impact of climate change on their business than small to medium-sized businesses (10 to 249 employees). An estimated 52.0% of large businesses were very or somewhat concerned, compared to 45.0% of small to medium-sized businesses.
