Latest main findings for businesses with 10+ employees and a presence in Scotland

  • the top concern for businesses for September 2025 was falling demand of goods and services (18.8%); although an estimated 21.4% of businesses had no concerns

  • for an estimated 22.1% of businesses, the prices of materials, goods or services bought in July 2025 increased compared with June 2025
  • an estimated 7.9% of businesses increased the prices of goods or services they sold in July 2025 compared with June 2025, down from 11.5% in the previous month
  • an estimated 15.7% of businesses were expecting to increase the prices of goods or services sold in September 2025; labour costs was the top factor for businesses considering price increases (reported by 31.2%)
  • in August 2025, an estimated 26.4% of businesses expected their business performance to increase over the next 12 months, the lowest percentage in the series
