Bathing water designations - reviewing proposals: guidance
Guidance to support the Independent Bathing Water Review Panel in considering proposals for new bathing waters as part of the public consultation practice. This ensures that the information that Scottish Ministers use to make designation decisions is as complete as possible.
6. Publication of bathing water information
Before the start of the first bathing season (typically 1 June, but subject to change), SEPA[6] and the Scottish Government[7] publish on their respective websites the full list of bathing waters, including any new bathing waters designated following consideration by the Panel of a proposal. Scottish Ministers will also publish the list of bathing waters in the Edinburgh Gazette.
In addition, where a new bathing water is designated, the relevant local authority, the relevant health board, Scottish Water and NatureScot will also be notified. Where a proposal has been made to SEPA, then the person or organisation who made the proposal will be informed of the Scottish Ministers’ final decision on designation of such a proposed bathing water.
