Aquaculture: code of practice

Sets out standards expected from Aquaculture Production Businesses in Scotland (“APBs”) in order to provide for the containment of fish on fish farms and to prevent their escape in relation to marine mammal interactions.


Reporting Forms

The two reporting forms listed below are available within the supporting documents of this publication.

Mandatory standard in relation to killing and injury of marine mammals (“bycatch”)

As set out in Section 3.2 of the Code, Aquaculture Production Businesses (APBs) must report any incident of killing or injury of marine mammals in the form of bycatch within 48 hours of becoming aware of the incident. This can be done by completing the reporting form and submitting it to Marine Scotland at marinemammalreporting@gov.scot.

Mandatory standard in relation to reporting use of containment measures to deter marine mammals

As provided in Section 3.2 of the Code, Aquaculture Production Businesses (APBs) must report all use of containment measures to deter marine mammals on an annual basis to Marine Scotland. This annual report must be submitted to Marine Scotland no later than 31 January of each year and should cover the use of containment measures in the previous calendar year. This can be done by completing the reporting form and submitting it to Marine Scotland at marinemammalreporting@gov.scot.
