This technical report accompanies the statistical publication Adult Support and Protection (ASP) National Minimum Dataset, 2024-25 and provides more detailed information on the background and methodology used to produce the statistics, as well as notes on data quality and a glossary of terms used.

This technical report has been produced by the Scottish Government in collaboration with the Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (Iriss). The Scottish Government would like to thank Iriss staff for their work in developing and maintaining the Adult Support and Protection National Minimum Dataset (ASP NMDS) and their considerable contribution to the production of this report. This is additional to their ongoing work in support of ASP practice across Scotland.

The Scottish Government would also like to thank the five local authorities (the ‘learning partners’) who helped to develop the ASP NMDS for the considerable time and effort they have provided - and continue to provide - to support and improve the dataset.
