Testing the Young Voter Registration Form for the 2014 Referendum on Scottish Independence

This report presents the findings of the testing of the understanding and usability of a draft Young Voter Registration Form which is intended to be used to register 15-year-olds who will be 16 by the date of the referendum, to allow them to vote in the 2014 referendum on Scottish Independence.

4. This is a method which is commonly used in social research to recruit hard to reach participants. Hard to reach participants, who were recruited through other methods, were asked whether they knew of other people who also fitted the research criteria that might be interested in taking part in the research.

5. This was established in the interviews by asking participants about their household composition and, where applicable, the ages of all children in the household.
