Maps showing all the shellfish water protected areas in Scotland.

Shellfish Water Protected Areas (SWPAs) are designated zones aimed at safeguarding shellfish waters from pollution, to support the sustainable development of economically significant shellfish production. Under section 5A(3) of the Water Environment and Water Services (Scotland) Act 2003.

The following areas are identified by reference to a map prepared for the purposes of the 2013, 2016 and 2026 Orders and laid before the Scottish Parliament in accordance with section 5A(6) of the Act.
