Scottish Government Prevention Unit Plan

The Scottish Government Prevention Unit Plan sets out the purpose, objectives, and strategic priorities of the Prevention Unit. It describes the Unit's future work programme and how it seeks to connect with partners to support the shift towards prevention across Scotland.

Introduction

The Scottish Government Prevention Unit was established in June 2026 as a central resource to support and accelerate preventative approaches across Scotland.

The Unit plays a key role in delivering the prevention ambitions set out in the Public Service Reform (PSR) Strategy, helping to drive a more systematic focus on prevention across policy, services, and public investment.

This paper sets out the purpose, objectives, and strategic priorities of the Prevention Unit. It also describes the Unit's future work programme and how it seeks to connect with partners to support the shift towards prevention across Scotland.
