ScotPayments’ users are public sector finance and operational staff. 

ScotPayments was built with users - from discovery through to design, development and testing. It aims to be a payment service any public sector organisation can use. 

It uses the Scottish Government Design System and accessibility specialists to create a service everyone can use. 

Regular user research helps prioritise features and adapt designs based on feedback before changes go live. 

Users also have access to a dedicated support team for help with any issues. 

Digitisation 

ScotPayments uses components that integrate with organisations' current technology and can adapt to future changes.  

This means the service can quickly meet new demands. When new payment technologies or standards emerge, they can be added to the platform once, benefiting all users. 

Security and compliance 

ScotPayments follows modern security best practice and the latest government security standards. 

Using cloud infrastructure and modern frameworks provides better security than many older systems, allowing quick responses to new cyber threats. 

The always-on cloud security tools provide continuous monitoring, with the Scottish Government's Security Operations Centre watching for and responding to any issues.  

As a Scottish Government-run service, public sector organisations can be confident it meets Scotland's public sector security requirements.

To make outbound payments 

Before joining ScotPayments, the team will work with you to understand your technology and processes to make sure the service works for your users. 

Partner organisations need their own bank account. ScotPayments can help with application forms, signing processes and data protection assessments. 

A dedicated team provides tailored training, test environments and support at every stage to ensure successful payments.

Confirmation of Payee 

For SCOTS network users, using Confirmation of Payee is quick and easy. Once you have access and training, you can check bank details through a secure webpage. 

If your organisation is not on the SCOTS network, the team will work with you to integrate technology.
