Island Communities Impact Assessment – Note of decision

Title of the programme/proposal/decision: Public Service Reform Strategy

Programme/proposal/decision implementation date: June 2025

Directorate/Division/Service/Team: Public Service Reform Directorate

Rationale for decision:

An Island Communities Impact Assessment will not be taken forward in relation to the Public Service Reform Strategy, due to its high-level strategic nature as a collection of workstreams.

However, as individual workstreams are delivered under the strategy, each will be assessed to determine whether an Island Communities impact assessment is warranted, ensuring that the specific impact on islands are considered where applicable.

In particular, we expect this to be in relation to workstreams in Pillar 2: Joined up Services in the delivery of Whole Family Support and Single Authority Models. However, the decision point for these workstreams will be at a later point.

Declaration:

I confirm that the decision not to perform an Island Communities impact assessment has been authorised by: Simon Mair - Deputy Director, Place Based Services and Reform

Name and job title: Polly Windsor, Evidence & Strategy Lead

Date: 27 June 2025
