This statistical publication presents latest quarterly figures to end June 2025 on new housebuilding and Affordable Housing Supply, along with annual rates of new housebuilding and affordable housing supply per head of population, with comparisons to other UK countries.

Charts 4 and 5, which show the number of quarterly new build starts and completions in the year to the end of June 2025 compared with the previous year. Comparisons of quarterly data should be made to the corresponding quarter in a previous year as there have been no seasonal adjustments made to the data.
Chart 4: Housebuilding starts for 2024 and 2025 (the year to the end of June), by quarter, Scotland
Chart 4 shows more private sector led starts (11%, 294 homes) when comparing April to June in 2024 and 2025. There were fewer housing association starts (-28%, -134 homes) and local authority led starts (-17%; -62 homes) when comparing April to June in 2024 and 2025.
Chart 5: Housebuilding completions for 2024 and 2025 (the year to the end of June), by quarter, Scotland
Chart 5 shows more local authority led completions (167%, 449 homes) when comparing April to June in 2024 and 2025. There were fewer private sector led completions (-8%, -314 homes) and housing association completions (-46%, -344 homes) when comparing April to June in 2024 and 2025.
