Poverty and Income Inequality in Scotland 2018-21

There are no updated income inequality and poverty statistics for 2018-21 due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on data collection.

The latest estimates for Scotland using data from 2020/21 are not robust, and are unable to describe reliably how income and poverty changed in 2020/21 and also during 2018-21, compared to previous years and periods. This is because pandemic restrictions severely disrupted the data collection. As a result, we were unable to obtain a representative sample for Scotland.

We recommend that people continue to refer to Poverty and Income Inequality in Scotland 2017-20 for the latest National Statistics on poverty and income inequality.

In the interest of transparency, we also published an analytical report which shows income and poverty trends including the latest, unreliable estimates.
