Governance

The Chair confirmed that this sub group will work alongside the groups which have been tasked with drafting the new guidance and developing recommendations for developing a standard dataset for strengthening the recording and monitoring of incidents across all local authorities.

Any useful reference material that could help inform this work should be sent to the Scottish Government representatives, who will circulate to the group.

Aims and outcomes

The sub group discussed the key terminology that needs to be defined. It was agreed that the group would initially define three terms:

  • physical nitervention
  • physical restraint
  • seclusion

It was noted that there are many definitions of these terms already in circulation. Sub group members were asked to share any helpful definitions to inform the discussion at the next meeting.

Date for next meeting
