1.Ensure Scottish Government readiness to deliver on the implications following the EU referendum, additional powers and constitutional change.
2.Realise the pathway and programme of strategic change set out in the SG2020 programme.
3.Support the new administration following the 2016 Scottish Parliamentary elections in delivering a Programme for Government and Spending Review with energy, pace, cohesion and impact.
4.Champion the leadership qualities and characteristics of transformational change as part of reform in Scotland's public sector services.
5.Be the voice of strategic challenge in the following areas:
- growing the economy and inclusive growth, including relations with the business community
- securing the future of Scotland through improving outcomes for all our young people
- science, food, digital/IT, improvement (including acumen and capacity) – through supporting DGs leading in these areas
6.Develop our people and their talent and address issues of equality and diversity, ensuring our organisation becomes more reflective of Scottish society, with a particular focus on LGBTi, BME and women.
