5. Next Steps

The palliative care strategy is published alongside this consultation report and an initial strategy delivery plan (2025-28). In the light of the consultation feedback, we have:

• simplified the language;
• made the strategy more focused and with groups of actions moved into the delivery plan;
• listed delivery partners with each group of strategy actions;
• set out key work to ensure delivery is supported through monitoring and, as appropriate, evaluation activities, and
• set out delivery governance arrangements that will support actions across Scotland.

This plan has 23 actions in six groups that together will enable us to achieve the eight strategy outcomes for people of all ages across Scotland. All the actions in the delivery plan include a requirement to address inequalities and improve inclusion. People of all ages with life shortening conditions, and their families and carers, should receive the right care and support for them, in the right place, at the right time, and from the right people.
