Co-creation

The Open Government climate change commitment and Network have been co-created with a core group of external stakeholders.

In July 2021, an online public idea generation workshop was held, focussing on the Climate Change Commitment for Scotland’s Open Government Action Plan 2021. This was facilitated by DemSoc, with input from the Scottish Government Team leading on this commitment. View the outputs of this workshop.

A range of civil society stakeholders were consulted on potential ideas for the commitment, including Members of Scotland's Open Government Network, Climate Outreach, Keep Scotland Beautiful, Zero Waste Scotland, CEMVO, and Stirling University.

In April 2022, the Scottish Government held an introductory session on the commitment, inviting a core group of 12 civil society stakeholders, which included a range of climate/eNGO organisations, equality groups, academics and civil society.

Following this, the core group was invited to share their views on various co-creation points, including the role of the network, how it should be operated, who should be involved, and how members should communicate with one another.

These views were then used by the Scottish Government to inform a network Terms of Reference, which was agreed with the core group in July 2022.

The Terms of Reference has since been used to inform the selection and development of the network’s hosting platform, which is expected to go live in winter 2022.
