GDP Monthly Estimate: January 2025
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) statistics measure changes in the output of the economy. This is an Official Statistics in Development publication for Scotland.
Part of
Scotland’s onshore GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.3% in January. This follows growth of 0.5% in December (revised down from 0.6%).
In the three months to January, GDP is estimated to have grown by 0.5% compared to the previous three month period. This follows GDP remaining flat (0.0% growth) in Quarter 4 2024.
In January the sectors with the largest contribution to overall GDP were Retail, Wholesale & Motor Trades, and Professional and Scientific and Technical Services, each of which contributed around 0.2 percentage points of growth to headline GDP of 0.3%.
