Maternity Care Survey materials

Survey materials, including survey questionnaires and privacy notices.

Overview

This page brings together supporting documents used to run the Maternity Care Survey, including the survey questionnaire, privacy notices, and approval documentation. Materials, including the questionnaire, are listed by survey year in the ‘Supporting documents’ section.

The documents serve two main purposes. The survey questionnaire and approval letter (namely Public Benefit and Privacy Panel for Health and Social Care approval letter) show aspects of the methodology and approvals for the survey. The privacy notices (full and summary provacy notice) are published as a transparency record, setting out what participants were told about how their data would be collected, used and protected when they took part.

The Maternity Care Survey asks women about their most recent NHS maternity care experience. It covers the maternity care journey from antenatal care through to care at home and baby feeding after the birth. It has run since 2013, with the results used by NHS Boards and local services to identify where care is working well and where improvements are needed. For the published findings from each survey, see Maternity Care Survey: results and technical reports. For details of support available to anyone affected by issues raised in the survey, see Maternity Care Survey: sources of support.
