Websites and phone numbers of organisations which may be helpful to survey participants.


  • Parent Club - created by the Scottish Government. On this website you will find a range of up-to-date guidance on your child’s health and education
  • NHS Health and support for new parents - sources of advice and support for parents including mental health support, benefits support and information about different types of childcare and how much they cost
  • National Childbirth Trust (NCT) - NCT is the UK's largest charity offering information and support in pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood. On this website you can find information, local activities and meet-ups, and courses and workshops
  • MumsAid - a charity that provides pregnant women and new mothers with specialist counselling and mental health support. If you are struggling to cope emotionally with pregnancy or a new baby, you can call MumsAid on 07758 763908 or email info@mums-aid.org. Please note that MumsAid are not a crisis service, so if you need help urgently you should contact your GP
  • Maternal Mental Health Alliance - the Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) is a UK-wide charity and network of 130 member organisations, parents, and clinicians. On this website you can access guidance, tips and services to support your mental health
  • PANDAS - a UK-wide charity that offers support for every parent experiencing difficulties with their emotional wellbeing or mental health. You can book a free call on their website, email supportme@pandasfoundation.org.uk, or send a message on Whatsapp to 07903 508334 (the Whatsapp service will be available every day from 8am – 10pm)
  • Breathing Space - a free and confidential phone line service for any individual, who is experiencing low mood or depression, or who is unusually worried and in need of someone to talk to (0800 83 85 87)
  • Samaritans - Samaritans provide confidential emotional support 24/7 to those experiencing despair, distress or suicidal feelings (free helpline 116 123) or email jo@samaritans.org
  • National Breastfeeding Helpline - this helpline offers independent, evidence based breastfeeding support and information to anyone in the UK who needs it. The telephone helpline (0300 100 0212) is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Support is also available in Welsh, Polish, Bengali and Sylheti and for people who have hearing or speech impairments
  • Citizens Advice Scotland - a website where you can get free, confidential advice on a limitless range of subjects including finances, housing and employment. You can also call their helpline on 0800 028 1456
  • Complaints about your care: We expect your NHS board to act on any concerns and to provide appropriate treatment and we would encourage you to engage with your NHS board on this matter.   • Support with complaints about your care: If you would like support in pursuing a complaint, it may be helpful to contact the Patient Advice and Support Service (PASS). The PASS service has fully trained professional advisers who can help and support you to: 
    • give feedback or comments, raise concerns or make complaints about health care provided by the NHS in Scotland
    • understand the rights and responsibilities of a patient
    • access information and advice on health and community services that offer additional support with health care needs
