Dear George,

Like many others in the industry, I was pleasantly surprised to hear the Prime Minister’s comments earlier this week that “we are going to get from the United States now a lifting of… the ban on British lamb”. Such a development would of course be welcome.

However details of what has been agreed are in short supply. I would be grateful if your department could provide us with chapter and verse on the agreement with the US authorities and when the lifting of the ban will take effect.

I am copying this letter to Lesley Griffiths MS and Edwin Poots MLA.
