9. Section 13 of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 gives Fire and Rescue Authorities and Joint Boards the power to respond to any other eventualities likely to cause death, injury or illness, or harm to the environment (including buildings).

10. National pay and conditions for fire officers and support staff up to area manager level is set by the National Joint Council Scheme of Conditions of Service (Grey Book).
