Figures showing the uptake of additional interim care placements and the total number of people in interim care placements.

This document is part of a collection

On 10 January 2023 The Scottish Government made funding available to Health and Social Care Partnerships (HSCPs) to subsidise the purchase of additional interim care facilities. This is to enhance the existing provision from HSCPs. This workbook presents figures showing the uptake of this offer and the total number of people in interim care beds.

The offer of an interim care placement should be made when a patient is ready for hospital discharge, but their Health and Social Care Partnership is unable to provide an appropriate care at home package immediately, or when their first choice care home is temporarily unavailable. A clear care plan for this period of interim care needs to be in place, with an agreed date for the placement to end, set out before the placement begins.
